…and get a chance to win up to $250,000!

It was only a couple of months ago when the Alexa creators officially added the first few kids’ skills that come with a layer of parental permissions to ensure a child’s safety and security.

These skills include Nickelodeon’s The SpongeBob Challenge, Sesame Street and Amazon Storytime, which are all already available on the Echo, Dot, Show and other Alexa-enabled devices.

Now, Amazon is looking to expand their kid skills lineup by inviting developers to build an Alexa skill that educates, entertains, and engages kids under 13 years old.

On Wednesday, Amazon announced the “Alexa Skills Challenge: Kids with Devpost,” that is open for individuals or teams of individuals, for a chance to win a total of $25,000 cash prize.

Aside from the Grand Prize, participants can also get bonus prizes from these categories:

  • $10,000 for Kid Favorite, Parent Approved
  • $10,000 for Best Skill by High School Students
  • $10,000 for Best Skill by University Students
  • $5,000 for Best Educational Skill
  • $5,000 for Best Skill Designed for Echo Show

Round 1 begins now.  Top 20 finalists will be announced on January 30th, and the winners on February 28th.
