Amazon has already been offering meal kits through Tyson Tastemakers but recently, the e-commerce giant has officially registered a trademark in the US for a new service with a tagline that says, “We do the prep. You be the chef.” (The Times)
According to the news that was first reported by The Times, the prepared food kits are ready for cooking and assembly as a meal, which are primarily consist of grains, rice, noodles, pasta or bakery products.
The trademark was only filed last July 6 but has already shaken up its competitors such as Blue Apron and HelloFresh. In fact, reports show that Blue Apron shares hit an all-time intra-day low and plunged as much as 11% as soon as the news came out.
A couple of weeks ago, Zillow’s stocks also went down after news of Amazon entering the real estate business went out. Clearly, Amazon is already starting to take over the world and there’s nowhere to hide now.
