It seems like Amazon is getting more aggressive in pursuing its private-label clothing business. Last year, the company already introduced at least seven private label fashion brands ranging from children’s clothing, men’s suits and dress shoes to women’s casual and contemporary clothing, as well as accessories and handbags. In the beginning of this year, reports about Amazon starting an active wear brand and $10-cheap intimate apparel have already surfaced. Now, another job post hints that Amazon is once again adding something new to their fashion line.
According to a listing that went up last month, Amazon currently has a position open for a “Senior Brand Manager of Plus Size Fashion.” Not really sure whether the online mega-retailer is building a whole new Plus Size Brand or just expanding one or all of its in-house brands that are already offering plus-size pieces – Lark & Ro, James & Erin and Society New York.
Either way, it still shows that Amazon is being serious about beefing up its private fashion label. Recent findings show that millennials buy more clothes on Amazon than any other website with 17% of all online clothing sales last year, even higher than Nordstrom or Walmart.
There’s definitely a lot to look forward to this year when it comes to Amazon hitting the fashion scene – athleisure, lingerie, plus-size… I wonder what’s next.
