And just like that, Amazon is jumping into a new product segment again. Just last month, we heard about the company’s plans of beefing up its in-house clothing with the plans of launching its very own active wear brand. Today, The Wall Street Journal reports that the e-commerce giant will start selling its own line of inexpensive women’s intimate apparel.
With brands like Victoria’s Secret, Calvin Klein and Aerie already making it big in the lingerie market, some industry insiders think that Amazon will have a hard time selling their own line. But I doubt that Jeff Bezos will feel the pressure. Guess it should be the other way around.
Amazon is going for the sub-$10 pricing and with the company’s popularity and reputation, loyal customers will trust it enough to buy their cheap intimate apparel.
This new venture is definitely a gamble for Amazon but as you all know, the company has unlimited resources to support it… so that won’t even be a problem for Jeff Bezos and the team.
