Today, Amazon announced that the sales from this year’s Prime Day were 60% more than the previous year. The e-commerce giant sold twice more Amazon Fire TV devices, more than 2 million toys, over 1 million pairs of shoes and more than 90, 000 TVs. This year’s best seller worldwide is the Fire TV Stick while the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker was popular among US customers.
The second annual sale was also a hit for other sellers and small businesses on Amazon.
“On Prime Day we offered customers a great deal for the Nikon D3300 camera and the deal sold out within the first hour!” – Elazar Klein, Merchandising Director, Ritz Camera
“Prime Day was our biggest day of the year! We more than quadrupled the number of sales from our previous biggest sales day.” – Emily Wilcox, Founder, Fayebeline
“We are absolutely thrilled. Gaining access to millions of Prime members on Prime Day was a huge win for us.” – Brian Buccella, Vice President of Marketing at Segway
If Amazon and its sellers were all happy about the results, some customers weren’t. Yesterday, complaints about shopping cart-glitches and lower-than-expected discounts crowded Twitter with the hashtag #PrimeDayFail. Well, it’s pretty expected for sites to struggle when millions of customers are on the site. Were you one of the unlucky ones?
Nevertheless, Amazon Prime Day 2016 was definitely a success. Can’t wait for next year!
