Following the completion of Amazon’s Whole Foods take over last month, Kohl’s announced on Wednesday that the department store chain is opening an “Amazon Store Experience” in 10 select stores across Los Angeles and Chicago starting this October.
Kohl’s plans to dedicate 1,000 square feet inside its stores for this store-in-store concept that will offer different Amazon devices such as Echo, Dot, Fire Tablets, etc. and other accessories, smart home products and services.
“Kohl’s and Amazon share a customer obsession and we’ve joined together to leverage each other’s strengths and deliver a great experience customers can only find at Kohl’s,” says Kohl’s chief merchandising officer Michelle Gass.
“We are thrilled to offer a unique new way for customers to try out our lineup of Alexa-enabled Amazon devices, learn more about our smart home services from Amazon experts and then buy those items directly from Amazon—all within Kohl’s stores. Teaming up with Kohl’s provides an incredible opportunity to pair world-class customer and shopping experiences,” said Dave Zimmer, vice president, sales and marketing, Amazon Devices.
After the announcement was made, Kohl’s shares immediately jumped 5% higher, which is great news for the company.
Based on the positive responses from Amazon’s team up with Whole Foods and Kohl’s, I’m sure more companies will consider getting some “help” from the online retail giant.
Hmm, I wonder which company is set to partner up with Amazon next month.
